Some Serving Ideas
Give your spongecake a light dusting of confectioners sugar or use a frosting of your choice. If the cake is turned into a torte, proceed with the directions given in the Torten section.
A three (or two) layer torte can easily consist of different kinds of spongecake. For instance, chocolate, filbert and basic spongecake can be combined with your choice of buttercream, whipped cream, custard, preserves or fresh fruit puree. Decorations are always pleasing to the eye; fill a pastry bag with butter or whipped cream and try your hand at it. Chocolates, Krokant and marzipan can be used for special accents.
Disaster Contingency Plan. Finally, have no fear if things go wrong and your spongecake fails to rise. No matter what the result, your cake can be left to dry out completely for a few days. It may then be very finely crumbed and used for crumbs in various Torten.
